Park Circus supplies films for public screening around the world, with titles for the next four weeks listed on our Now Showing page. Each week we highlight a selection coming up in the next seven days.
First out this week is La Rochelle International Film Festival (1-10 July) in France, which is screening a number of Park Circus titles as part of its David Lean Retrospective. Audiences will be treated to screenings of Academy Award-winning The Bridge on the River Kwai in Sony Pictures’ dazzling 2K restoration, desert adventure Lawrence of Arabia, Glasgow-set period drama Madeleine and absorbing romance, renowned for its beautiful cinematography – The Passionate Friends.
Institut Catala De Les Industries Culturals in Barcelona, Spain has opted to show moving drama The Remains of the Day (7-10 July). Directed by James Ivory, this 1993 drama is about a rulebound head butler (Anthony Hopkins), whose carefully maintained veneer of servitude is challenged by his master’s ties with the Nazi cause and the possibility of romance.
Taxi Driver – Martin Scorsese’s cult tale of modern alienation is screening at Cinema Nova in Melbourne (7-13 July). In celebration of its 35th anniversary, the film has been digitally restored by Sony Pictures and is now back in cinemas worldwide.
Here in the UK, family favourite Home on the Range is screening 9 July as Gate Cinema Notting Hill, Norwich Cinema City and Screen at Walton. The Little Piece of Heaven family farm is about to go under and outlaw cattle rustler Alameda Slim (voice of Randy Quaid) sets his sights on it. Three dairy cows – tough Maggie (voice of Roseanne), leader Mrs. Calloway (voice of Judi Dench), and naïve Grace (voice of Jennifer Tilly) – team up to save the farm.
